A registered trade mark is
a property right granted by the state.
The trade mark is
registered by the proprietor in respect of particular goods and/or
services and enables the proprietor to prevent unauthorised use of the
mark, or a similar mark, in respect of those goods/services or similar
goods/services.
The registration also gives the proprietor
the right to use the mark themselves in relation to those goods/services
(provided that the registration is not subsequently declared invalid).
