Ownership of design
The initial proprietor of a design is primarily the
author or creator of the design.
However, if the design is created as the result of a
commission, the person commissioning the design is the initial
proprietor.
Furthermore, if the design is created by an employee in
the course of their employment, the employer is the initial proprietor.
The proprietor may assign, license, or even mortgage,
the design.
