British patents
Term and renewal
A British patent has a term of 20 years from the
application date, subject to payment of annual renewal fees.
The initial renewal fee is due four years after the
application date, and the final renewal fee is to nineteen years after the
application date. The level of renewal fees increases progressively year
by year.
The patent is renewed using Patents Form No. 12/77.
