Publication
About 18 months after the filing date (or earlier
priority date if one is claimed), the application is published by the
Patent Office. Anybody can then buy a copy of the application and can also
inspect the Office’s file for the application.
In order to proceed further with the application, the
applicant must then request substantive examination of the application and
pay an examination fee within six months after the publication date.
