Ownership of copyright
The initial owner of copyright is primarily the author
of the work, and there are special provisions as to who is the author in
cases where this is not immediately apparent.
However, if a literary, dramatic, musical or artistic
work is created by an employee in the course of their employment, the
employer is the initial owner of the copyright.
Unlike design right or registered design ownership, if
the work is created as the result of a commission, the person
commissioning the work is not automatically the initial owner.
Copyright can be assigned or licensed.
